A chalky headland on the
south coast was the subject of last week's Sunday Snap. With its high cliff and red and white striped lighthouse
underneath it was of course
Beachy Head
It was a bumper week for

Keep up the good work!
For this week I've chosen a
photograph of something that no longer exists. This stadium was built
in 1990 in preparation for the 1991 World Student Games. However it
lasted just 23 years before it was demolished in 2013. When it did
close it was actually the second largest athletics stadium in the UK
with just the Olympic Stadium in London bigger. It was not only used
for athletics. Over the years it was home to the local rugby league
team, a stop gap abode for a nearby football team plus the host of
various music gigs. The first concert at the stadium was for the home
town band of Def Leppard. In subsequent years star acts such as U2,
The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson and Bon Jovi came to entertain
the crowds of 50,000. The stadium was named after the river that
flowed close by. This week's question is
What was the name of this
stadium?
We were joined last week by
Cheryl.
Please do not adjust your sets when viewing Cheryl's wobbly Polish
buildings! Over in Macclesfield Sam
has been remembering a musical talent who left this world too soon.
