Sunday Snap – The Cathedral of Shopping

We were visiting the art museum in Paris for last week's Sunday Snap. I asked the name of the famous gallery and the answer is

The Louvre

Painting the right answer were Susan, Anne, Cheryl and Kara.

We're going shopping in Paris for this week's Sunday Snap. If you have been to Paris then you probably will have heard of this store if not you may not know about it. However the interior is so amazing I just had to share it! The original store was opened in 1895 when cousins Théophile Bader and Alphose Kahn went into business with a small haberdasher's shop. The business was so successful that they decided to expand their premises and in 1905 they bought the site where the current shop stands. They commissioned the architect Georges Chedanne to design the new store. He came up with the idea of the glass and steel dome and the Art Nouveau styling throughout the shop. It was finally opened to the public in 1912. This week's question is

What is the name of the shop?

We were joined last week by Susan who has been meeting up with blogging buddies. Anne has been experiencing all the fun of the fair at the local fete. What do you do with an old pair of boots? Cheryl found that you plant them with flowers! In North Carolina Sue caught the light just right at the waterfall. There's was enough room on the broom for Kara's trio. Finally, the seagulls had the best view as the Red Arrows flew over Bournemouth.
