We've spent the month baking
the cakes we are best known for to show off for this month's theme of
Signature Bakes. Let's have a look at what everyone has been making
this month.
After an afternoon of gin
and Vikings (read the tale!) Elizabeth from Elizabeth's
Kitchen Diary realised she had better get back in her husband's
good books. What else would do than his favourite Chocolate and
Vanilla Cupcakes? These are classic combination of chocolate cake
topped with a vanilla flavoured buttercream.
Never wanting to waste an
ingredient but always willing to try something new is the basis of
Caroline of Caroline
Makes... cooking. Her signature style can be seen in her Ferrero
Rocher Cupcakes. Using inspiration from a recipe by Ros of The
more than occasional baker Caroline has put a whole Ferrero
Rocher in each of the cupcakes before topping with Nutella
buttercream.
If anyone is known for her
love of small chocolate cakes then it is Choclette from Tin
and Thyme. Her latest creation is Chocolate Whisky Cakes.
Made for a local bookshop talk these are definitely ones for the
grown-ups!
When it comes to birthday
cakes you need a good recipe to fall back onto and Johanna down under
in Australia at Green
Gourmet Giraffe has got one. She adapted her recipe for mud cake
to base her Malteser and Milo Mudcake on. This is a
combination of dark chocolate cake decorated with milk chocolate
fingers and Maltesers.
I finished off the month
with my trusty Chocolate
Layer Cake. It's a quick and simple cake filled with chocolate
buttercream and works as a great base for covering with decorations.
On this occasion I left it plain and it went in no time at all!
Thank you to everyone who
joined in this month. I'll be in a couple days when hopefully the
weather will be hotting up but the bakes will be cooling down...
There are some lovely bakes there! Chocolate cake would have been my signature bake, if I'd had the time!
