Happy and Healthy #HartleysYourLunchbox

Master JibberJabber still receives a free lunch at school each which both of us are happy for him to have. Miss JibberJabber on the other hand has the choice of a paid school lunch or taking a packed lunch at home. The school lunches are on a rolling three week menu so we know what the meal should be on a certain day. Since Miss JibberJabber has been having a mixture of school lunches and packed lunches from home for some time now she knows exactly what she likes and what she doesn't like.

When Hartleys set us the challenge of coming up with some ideas for healthy lunchboxes I passed the task over to Miss JibberJabber as she is the one who eats the lunches but also because they have so many lessons on food, diet and exercise at school now she must surely be more knowledgeable than me!

Miss JibberJabber, it's over to you...

“It can be a bit boring having the same lunches over and over again. So here's some easy tips to keeping lunches healthy and exciting. Now with Hartley's No Added Sugar Jelly Pots you can out a sweet treat into your child's lunchbox. Remember to look out for special edition green lids on the Hartley's No Added Sugar Jelly Pots for a chance to claim a free Hartley's lunchbox and stickers.

1. Remember your five a day doesn't just come in the form of cooked veg. You can have: fruit juice, carrot sticks, salads.

2. Use brown bread or 50/50 bread; it's so much more nutritious and healthier.

3. Try giving your child something else like a salad or a pasta salad.

4. Yogurt is a great way of getting some calcium into your child's food (especially of it has your child's favourite characters on the packet).

5. Make sure you keep your child's meal balanced.
Here's a week's of healthy lunch ideas:

Monday – Turkey salad wrap, 100% pure orange juice, cucumber sticks, apple.

Tuesday – Tuna salad, water, Hartley's No Added Sugar Jelly Pot, carrot sticks.

Wednesday – Cheese sandwich, milk, orange, tomatoes.

Thursday – Tomato soup, 100% pure apple juice, brown bread roll, strawberries.

Friday – Pasta salad, water, Hartley's No Added Sugar Jelly Pot, yogurt.”

I think I'd better write a shopping list before school starts!
