Sunday Snap – The Fine Lady

fine lady
It seems like an age since we were looking at our Sunday Snaps. Before Christmas we paid a visit to The Cutlers' Hall. I asked where it is located and the answer is

Sheffield

Sharpening their knives with the right answer was Anne.

We're off this week to Oxfordshire. In this very pleasant market town is the statue of 'the fine lady'. Her fame comes from the nursery rhyme where she rides 'a cock horse'. As you can see she had 'Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes.' This is so 'She shall have music wherever she goes.' Who this fine lady was is a matter of debate. She has been linked to the other famous horse rider Lady Godiva. Close to this site is Broughton Castle which was once the home of William Fiennes. It could be that the original line should be 'To see a Fiennes lady' who was William's sister Celia. The statue was unveiled in 2005 by Princess Anne after people of the town raised the money to have the statue commissioned and erected. This week's question is

Where did the fine lady ride to?

We were joined last time by Susan and a very festive Twilight the cat. Kara found Cinderella's shoe at the pantomime and a sheep at the navitity. A trip to Bruges for Sophie found a brightly decorated Christmas shop. In Birmingham Anne got snowed in. Finally, Soma has been looking to winter for some creative inspiration.
