The Month Ahead – July 2017

Welcome to July's The Month Ahead. The school summer holidays have already started in many parts with the rest to follow later this month. There's plenty happening around the country for everybody. Let's have a look at some of the traditional feasts and festivals, events and exhibitions that are happening around the UK this month.

1st-2nd July - River Festival, Stratford-upon-Avon. Shakespeare's birth town plays host to the annual River Festival with live music, artisan craft stalls and delicious food market line the banks of the Avon.

4th-9th July – RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The latest round of the RHS summer shows makes it way to the majestic setting of Hampton Court Palace.

8th July – Yeovilton International Air Day, Somerset. Over five hours of flying displays to showcase the best in past, present and future Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. A must for any military or aeronautical enthusiasts.

9th-23rd July – Rick Stein Sunset Cinema. Chewton Glen, Hampshire. A combination of Rick Stein's food and a selection of films for a summer's evening.

11th - 13th July- Great Yorkshire Show, Harrogate. The best of the country's farming and rural life make their way to the Showground for one of this year's leading agricultural events.

16th-23rd July – The Open, Royal Birkdale, Southport. The 146th of The Open is a highlight for any golf fan. Before the main action starts practice session tickets are available from £10 with free tickets for juniors.

17th-21st July – Royal Swan Upping, along the River Thames. The Queen's Swan Marker and his team take their annual journey down the River Thames to check on the health of the swans and this year's cygnets.

20th-23rd July – Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF). The city of music welcomes the fifth annual LIMF with a diverse selection of acts.

22nd-24th July – Whitstable Oyster Festival, Kent. A new setting for this year on Tankerton Slopes. Look out for the Seafront Procession and the Landing of the Oysters.

28th-30th July – Gloucester Quays Food Festival. A free event including chef demonstrations from The Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown.
