Hotel Chocolat Christmas Goody Bag - Review

Hotel Chocolat Christmas Goody Bag

After a morning of trawling round the shops with my 3 year old son, whilst battling the Christmas present buying crowd, it was rather pleasing to find a card lying on my doorstep to say a parcel had been left at my neighbours. I duly trotted off to collect it and I didn't need to guess at what the contents was.

My neighbour was 'oohing' and 'aahing' as she handed over the box. When it comes to present giving first impressions count so much. No boring plain brown box here but a very stylish patterned box with the Hotel Chocolat logo on. Inside it has the same pattern but in black with a white background. You can't help to be impressed with it.

The contents had survived intact which is always a worry when sending anything through the post. I was going to criticise the packaging filler inside because I thought it would have to thrown into the bin. A quick inspection of the outer box tells me that it fact the stuffing is, “100% compostable, biodegradable and natural – designed to be reused, recycled or composted.” To my compost bin they will go!

Enough said about the packaging it's the chocolate that is the main feature. I was sent the Christmas Goody Bag. It's a very smart looking bag complete with thick black grosgrain ribbon handles and tie. Inside was:

A Small Cookie and Caramel Wreath
A packet of 6 Christmas Mess
A packet of 6 Treacle Tarts
A packet of 3 Milk Ho Ho Ho Santas.
Personalised gift card

This Christmas Goody Bag retails at £18 (excluding delivery). Hotel Chocolat do operate a 'click & collect' system which is rather convenient if you don't want to make a wasted shopping trip or try to pick out gifts in a crowded shop. For last minute ordering they even offer an option of ordering up to 6pm on Monday 23rd December for Christmas Eve delivery and same day Christmas Eve delivery if ordered before 11am. Both of these options do come at an extra cost but they may well save you if you have forgotten a vital present.

I do admit these are certainly premium chocolates and do come at a premium price. On the website there are a number of 'stocking filler' gifts starting at £1.95. If you have a special person to buy for or just wanting to impress these could certainly be the option for you.

I was sent the Christmas Goody Bag by Hotel Chocolat to review. No payment was made for this post and I was not obliged to write a positive review. The words, photographs and opinions are my own.
