The Laughing Cow Cheese Spreads Review

Time for lunch with The Laughing Cow Cheese Spreads with Emmental and Blue Cheese

Any parent who is faced with the daily task of preparing a school lunch box and the constant demands for food from a hungry toddler knows the benefit of having a stock of long-dated foods in the kitchen cupboards and fridge. Even the most organized parent has come down in the morning and found mould on the block of the cheese that was only bought two days ago and that the last slice of ham has been mysteriously eaten overnight. Therefore I was rather pleased to be given the chance of trying two new flavours from The Laughing Cow.

Both of the cheeses sent to me were of the 'Light' version. The first is with Blue Cheese and the other is Emmental. The Blue Cheese isn't strongly flavoured like a traditional blue cheese such as Stilton but does have a nice tang to it. I can't say that the Emmental flavour tasted much of Emmental but it was very nice and creamy and certainly different from the standard flavour. It should be noted that both state they are 'with Blue Cheese' or 'with Emmental' and make no claims to be fully flavoured with either.

Of course the toughest critics are the ones which The Laughing Cow cheeses are aimed at – my kids. My daughter liked both and in particular the Emmental version. She has been having some spread on rolls, sandwiches and crackers in her lunch box and has requested I buy it again. My two-year son has happily been scoffing both flavours without dispute and believe me if he didn't like it he would reject it upon sight.

Now for the facts. Each pack contains 8 triangles and a single triangle contains only 25 calories. In terms of calcium the Blue Cheese has 60mg in it or 8% of the Recommended Daily Allowance, and the Emmental has 69mg or 9% of the Recommended Daily Allowance. The two spreads are suitable for vegetarians.

Both have proved to be a hit at JibberJabber Towers and I will be looking out for them in future to mix up the lunch time offerings.

The Laughing Cow sent me the above sample. No payment was made for writing this post. The views expressed in this post are mine and my kids, of course.
